01
International Negotiation
This course focused on how to successfully negotiate with others whether it was in your daily life or in the international arena. The class partakes in different simulations so we can see how to best handle situations.
Some simulations were negotiating the pandemic and budget cuts for the school board. What I most liked about the class is that I was able to assess how my conflict/negotiation style is and how it compares to others. Attaining this skill will help me in a future career in the State Department when I have to negotiate with other states.
02
Transition and Human Rights
This course focuses on the issues that we are facing around the world regarding human rights. We looked at case studies in class such as the Kashmir dispute, Uyghurs in China, etc. The problem is that what might be a human rights violation to the United States may not be for other nations. This could be due to their reglious beliefs or traditional morals. It was shocking when I got the chnace to go to China and see how the chinese people I met, have no regard to this matter. They are still happy even though they are being watched and do not have acess to the world wide web. My experience put what this class taught me into perspective.
03
Studies in World Religions
This course focuses on creating the foundation for several religions across the world. For one or two weeks of the course, we would learn about one of them such as Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, etc. The best part of the class is that we got to go on field trips to a mosque and a Buddhist temple. We were able to take what we learned in the classroom and exhibit it in person. We were able to learn from those who practice that religion and the traditions they do. This prompted my later travels to visit these religious places in China, India, and Qatar.
